On Thursday, August 18, 2016, the Rice Lake Police Department received a letter from the WI Department of Corrections advising Anthony Atkins, a registered sex offender, moved to the City of Rice Lake and was living at 115 E Gates St.

Atkins was currently out of jail on felony bond for a violation of his sex offender restrictions – failing to update his address. His address according to his bond showed 1111 Heart Island Parkway in Rice Lake. This change of address, without notifying the Barron County District Attorney or Clerk of Courts within 24 hours, would be a violation of his bond.

On Friday, August 19, 2016, Officers went to 115 E Gates and located Atkins. He was arrested and transported to the Barron County Jail for felony bail-jumping because he did not update his address per his bond. He was released from custody without further charges on Monday, August 22, 2016 with the understanding he would be residing at 115 E Gates and updating his address with the court system.

After the Sex Offender Bulletin regarding Atkins was released yesterday, the Rice Lake Police Department learned he is no longer living at 115 E Gates St or 1111 Heart Island Parkway.

On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, Officers located Atkins at another residence in the city and he was taken into custody without incident for felony bail jumping. He was transported to the Barron County Jail pending formal charges from the Barron County District Attorney’s Office.
