There are two kinds of holiday shopping parents this year: those that have never heard of Hatchimals (you can stop reading now and consider yourself lucky); and those that know that this is the 'Must-Have' Gift-I-Must-Get-My-Child-Or-They-Will-Never-Speak-With-Me-Again toy.
If you are the latter, you might be in luck.
According to Fox6now.com...
Walmart stores across Wisconsin will soon be getting a new shipment of one of the hottest toys this holiday season. Priced at $48.88, Hatchimals are scheduled to begin landing on local Walmart store shelves December 8th through December 19th. Each Walmart is scheduled to receive dozens per store. Customers are encouraged to check with their local store on when they are expected to arrive during this timeframe. The local shipments are part of larger national shipment that numbers in the tens of thousands, according to Walmart.
Romper.com also adds: "The company behind the hot-ticket item recently posted a pop-up note on its website that reads, While additional product will hit retail shelves in December, we anticipate this inventory will sell out quickly."
Wal-Mart posted a video on its Facebook page on Wednesday that said, “Hatchimals in store now. Check your local store for availability.”
So we did. When we called the Rice Lake Wal-Mart this morning, listed as one of the stores expected to receive these shipments, the associate with whom we spoke stated that he was unware of any new or upcoming shipments at this time. Perhaps he didn't get the memo? Many others were stating on Wal-Mart's page they have called and are told no known shipments coming at this time, to which a page admin typically responds: "We're so sorry; Hatchimals are in higher demand than expected, and we've been working with the company that makes them to offer as many as possible in our stores."
So there you go, you might get lucky, you might not. If you are still in 'need' of one of these, we suggest you call your local Wal-Mart (and other places) to check on supplies.
Or, you could always prepare a letter in advance to soften the blow as this person has already done:
Happy Holidays!!
