BARRON COUNTY -- The 4th Annual Barron County Cops & Robbers Donut Dash is going to start on July 21st at the Barron County Fairgrounds. For the 3rd year in a row, we will kick off the run with a tribute to Law Enforcement Officers that died in the line of duty. This will include all of the fallen officer’s in the US since our last release on July 22nd, 2017. The tribute will take place right before the run, at approximately 8:15 a.m. Please join us in honoring these brave heroes.

Following the tribute, at 8:30 a.m., the Cops & Robbers Donut Dash will start just inside the entrance to the fairgrounds. The Cops & Robbers Donut Dash 5K is put on by the Sheriff's Department and the proceeds go to the Barron County Law Enforcement Foundation which then uses those funds for the “Shop With A Cop” program. The 2017 holiday season saw over 60 children provided with gift cards to shop with deputies and officers from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department, State Patrol, Wisconsin DNR and the Barron, Chetek, Cumberland, Rice Lake, and Turtle Lake Police Departments. The children used the gift cards to shop for their families for the holiday. After shopping the kids and officers all have dinner together. This event is always a special day for everyone involved.

That’s ok!!! Participates are welcome to walk the route. This event is for fun and a good cause. The past few years we even had some participants dress in costumes! “Prison” themed costumes seem to be popular. Don’t forget to bring your strollers – the little ones will have fun too and kids under 7 are free. Due to the potential for hot weather, bringing dogs is not encouraged.
