Sarona Man Charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder of Child Sexual Assault Victim

Charges have been filed in Washburn County Circuit Court against Russell L. Wilson, of Sarona, WI, for Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Intentional Homicide and Solicitation of First Degree Intentional Homicide.

Russell Wilson was previously charged in 2015 with the Repeated Sexual Assault of a Child; documents filed on November 7th in the Washburn County Circuit Court detail that between the dates of September 13th, 2016 and October 3rd, 2016, Russell Wilson sought out the assistance of a cellmate in finding a hitman who could kill the victim of his 2015 sexual assault charge and the mother of his victim, as well as the mother's 'new boyfriend'.

Washburn County Investigators worked with the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation, and ultimately Wilson hired a “hitman” (a special agent working undercover) to kill these three individuals before a certain court date on his 2015 pending charge of sexual assault.

Over the course of a few weeks, Wilson had multiple telephone conversations in which he arranged a payment plan with a price of $6,000 and set out the details of how the hitman should complete the job of killing these people. Wilson finalized the deal by offering a truck as payment and followed through with completion of that payment for the homicide of his intended victims.

According to public record, Wilson did ultimately plead guilty on October 13th, 2016, to his charge of repeated sexual assault on a child and is now awaiting sentencing for that conviction.

Wilson was also convicted and sentenced in 1993 in Barron County, WI for 1st Degree Sexual Assualt of a Child.

Wilson is set to appear in Washburn County Circuit Court on November 14th, 2016 for these new charges of Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Intentional Homicide and Solicitation of First Degree Intentional Homicide.
