The Spooner Area School District has received notification of being selected to receive a Wisconsin Department of Justice School Safety Grant. SASD is set to receive $84,379 for improving building physical security and staff training through the grant.
"We are pleased that the SASD was selected to receive a DOJ School Safety Grant and that the District will receive the full amount of funds applied for. The efforts of our legislators and the DOJ Office of School Safety to help keep the Spooner Schools safe for everyone are much appreciated," said Superintendent Dave Aslyn. The funds will be used to harden school entrance areas, improve interior and exterior observation as well as updating locks. Additionally, District staff will take part in training on trauma sensitive practices during the 2018-19 school year.
