SAWYER COUNTY -- On 10/19/17 at 4:07 p.m. Sawyer County Deputies, a Wisconsin DNR Warden and Sawyer County Paramedic /EMTs responded to a report of a 76-year-old female victim who had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot near Seeley, WI.
After first responding personnel arrived, the female victim, who was found to be alive and coherent, told first responders that she had shot herself in the chest. The female victim was treated at the scene by EMS personnel and was subsequently airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, MN. Her current medical condition is unknown at this time. The identity of the female victim will not be released at this time.
The Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of false information that is circulating about this incident. To correct that false information, there is no criminal activity involved in this incident. There is no gunman or suspect on the loose and the community is safe.
