HAYWARD, Wis. -- Mark Kelsey will be retiring as Sheriff of Sawyer County in September of 2017.
Statement from Sheriff Kelsey
After having the privilege of serving in law enforcement in this community for 38 years, I have decided to retire in September. It is now time for me to enjoy time with my family and focus on my health.
Over the past two years I’ve experienced medical issues that have resulted in a diagnosis of a neurological disorder that thus far has been treatment resistant. Due to the challenges this has presented, I’ve decided, with the support of my family and my primary physician, to retire prior to the end of my term.
It has been an honor to have served with the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office. I feel I am leaving Sawyer County with a department of individuals who nobly serve their community and uphold the core values that make the department what it is today.
For those who have stood by me and supported me, I am forever in your debt.
