On 05/24/18 at 8:52 p.m., the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office received a call of an 88-year-old male from Menomonie, WI, reported missing from a cabin located on Schmidt Road on the Flambeau River in the Township of Winter.
Sawyer County Deputies responded to the scene, assisted by the Wisconsin DNR, Sawyer County Search & Rescue, Sawyer County Ambulance, Sawyer County Dive Team and the City of Hayward Fire Department airboat.
At approximately 11:59 p.m. the missing elderly male was found deceased in the river, of an apparent drowning.
The name of the elderly male is not being released at this time.
The incident remains under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin DNR.
