Scouts Have ‘Perfect Day’ on the Ice

SPOONER, WI-- The annual fishing contest, hosted by Spooner Boy Scout Troop 104 and Spooner Cub Scout Pack 62, was held on Sunday, Feb. 19, on Spooner Lake.

Twenty Scouts, along with their parents and siblings, were in attendance at the event where Northern, Bass, Crappie, Bluegill and Perch were caught. “The weather cooperated giving scouting families a perfect day on the ice,” said Joshua Saunders, Pack 62 Asst. Cubmaster.

Ethan Martin of Boy Scout Troop 104 caught the largest fish - a 28 1/2-inch Northern Pike. The largest fish caught for the Cub Scouts was a 22 1/2-inch Northern caught by Zach Glessing.

Live bait and prizes were provided by Rick Anderson at AAA Sports Shop and by Spooner Ace Hardware. “Spooner Outlet and Severson’s Precision Auto Body have also been involved in making this event a success in the past years,” Saunders said.

The Scouts' Annual Pinewood Derby will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, at the Spooner Elementary School Gymnasium. The public is welcome to attend and watch.
