Second City Of Cornell Employee Sentenced In Misconduct Case

CHIPPEWA COUNTY -- Brandon Larson has been sentenced in Chippewa County regarding his criminal charges.

DrydenWire.com reported previously that two employees of the City of Cornell were facing criminal charges in Chippewa County for misconduct and possible theft of city owned property.

Brandon Larson and John Westaby were each charged with four counts of Class I Felony Misconduct/Office-Act/Inconsistent Duty and four counts of Misdemeanor Theft-Movable Property <=$2,500.

At a recent court hearing, the Court accepted a plea of No Contest from Larson to an amended count of Disorderly Conduct. According to online circuit court records, the remaining charges against Larson were dismissed but read in. The Court also ordered Larson to pay over $2,500 in restitution in addition to court costs of nearly $600.

The Court previously accepted a Deferred Guilty Plea Agreement on Westaby’s case in conjunction with sentencing Westaby on one count of Class I Felony Misconduct / Office - Act / Inconsistent Duty and two counts of Misdemeanor Theft - Movable Property <=$2,500.

Although full details of Westaby’s Agreement were not available via online circuit court record at the time of this post, records do indicate that Westaby has been ordered to pay over $5,000 in restitution and to complete any assessment and counseling as required and follow through and complete all required treatment.
