SAWYER COUNTY — Charges have been filed against a second individual involved in the June 2026 murder of a 16-year-old boy on the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation in Sawyer County.
Brennen Boswell (18) is now facing felony charges for involvement in an armed robbery that ended with the teenager being shot multiple times and killed on Cotey Road. Court documents state Boswell was also shot during the incident and initially portrayed himself as another victim, but law enforcement’s investigation later revealed that Boswell was aware of and participated in a plan to rob the teenager.
Boswell and Xzavier Barreras (19), both of Black River Falls, WI, have both been bound over for trial on multiple charges, including felony murder - armed robbery.
