Sexual Assault Charges Dismissed; Man Sentenced For Battery By Prisoner

WASHBURN COUNTY -- Charges of Sexual Assault that were filed against a Webster, WI man have been dismissed and the Court has sentenced him on a conviction of Battery by Prisoner from charges that were filed against him in a separate Washburn County Circuit Court case.

DrydenWire published a post in October 2020, stating that Trent Trepania, of Webster, WI, was facing charges of Class C Felony Second Degree Sexual Assault/Use of Force; Class C Felony Attempt Second Degree Sexual Assault/Use of Force; three counts of Class H Felony Bail Jumping; and one count of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping in Washburn County Circuit Court that were filed against him in September 2020. In a separate Washburn County Case filed against him on October 2, 2020, Trepania was charged with Class H Felony Battery by Prisoners.

On October 21, 2021, Trepania appeared in Washburn County Circuit Court for a sentencing hearing. Online circuit court records show that the Court ordered a 4 year imposed and stayed sentence for Trepania on a conviction for Class H Felony Battery by Prisoners, with 3 years of probation. Conditions of probation require Trepanis to maintain absolute sobriety. Should Trepania’s probation be revoked, he will face 2 years of initial confinement in state prison to be followed by 2 years of extended supervision.

The charges filed against Trepania for the alleged incident of sexual assault were all dismissed at a hearing held in June 2021. Details as to the reason for the dismissal were not listed in online circuit court records.

Trepania was also facing charges of Class I Felony Substantial Battery-Intend Bodily Harm; and Class H Felony Bail Jumping filed against him in Burnett County Circuit Court; and charges of Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine; Class H Felony Bail Jumping; Misdemeanor Obstructing or Resisting an Officer; Misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property; and Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct filed against him in three separate Sawyer County Circuit Court cases.

Online circuit court records show that Trepania was sentenced in October 2020 to a year of probation for a conviction of Class H Felony Bail Jumping in Burnett County Circuit Court. The charges of Class I Felony Substantial Battery-Intend Bodily Harm were dismissed but read-in. In September 2021, Trepania received a sentence of 7 months in county jail after revocation of that probation.

In August 2021, Trepania was sentenced on convictions from the multiple criminal cases that were previously filed against him in Sawyer County Circuit Court, including Class H Felony Bail Jumping, Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, and Misdemeanor Resisting or Obstructing. Charges that were dismissed but read in included Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct and Misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property.

Trepania is facing criminal charges in Sawyer County Circuit Court for Class H Felony Battery or Threat to Judge, Prosecutor, or Law Enforcement Officer, Misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property, Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct, Misdemeanor Resisting or Obstructing, and Class H Felony Bail Jumping from a case that was filed against him in August 2021. Details of that case are not known to DrydenWire at the time of this post. A warrant for Trepania’a arrest was issued on October 20, 2021, however, online records show that he is scheduled to make a voluntary court appearance regarding these recent charges in Sawyer County Circuit Court.
