WASHBURN COUNTY, WI -- A 31-year-old Shell Lake man was arrested on a fifth OWI offense following a traffic stop in Trego on Saturday, August 15, 2026, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol Northwest Region Spooner Post.

Dakota D Ellithorpe, 31 years of age, from Shell Lake, WI, has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Spooner Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 5th offense.
A trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a speed violation near US 53 and US 63 in Trego.
Upon contact with the driver, the trooper observed indicators of impairment. A roadside investigation was conducted, including standard field sobriety tests.
The driver was transported to a local hospital for a legal blood draw before being booked into the Washburn County jail.
The driver was charged with operating while intoxicated-5th offense, operating after revocation, bail jumping, and speeding.
Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
