WASHBURN COUNTY — A Shell Lake Police Department investigation into a reported threat has led to multiple felony and misdemeanor charges in Washburn County Circuit Court against a Shell Lake, WI, man, after authorities say he left a series of voicemails allegedly threatening to have a victim killed over an ongoing legal dispute.
According to a criminal complaint, Tyler Hansel, 40, is accused of making explicit threats in recorded messages about paying thousands of dollars to have the victim harmed or killed.
Hansel is scheduled to make another court appearance in May 2026.
