Shell Lake School District Voters Approve Operational Referendum

WASHBURN COUNTY — Following the election results, Superintendent Todd Felhofer shared the following message with families and staff:

Dear Families and Staff,

The results from the Tuesday, April 7th election are now official. A majority of voters in our district approved the nonrecurring operational referendum measure for the School District of Shell Lake.

This outcome means that our district can exceed its state-imposed revenue limit by $650,000 per year for the next four years. We will use these funds to balance our budget, limit staff reductions, maintain academic programs and extracurricular activities, and address maintenance needs, among others.

I want to thank all of the community members who attended information meetings and reached out in the months leading up to election day with questions about the referendum. Ensuring everyone has a chance to be heard is critical and your feedback is valuable.

Once again, thank you for the support that you have shown for our schools and students. Your continued investments will enable us to maintain the exceptional educational experience you have come to expect at Shell Lake Schools.

Sincerely,

Todd Felhofer

Superintendent
