Shell Lake Students Build 'Free Little Library' in Memory of Mrs. Butenhoff

SHELL LAKE, Wis. -- Mr. Bob Forsythe assisted four students in building a “Free Little Library” in memory of Mrs. Butenhoff (Mrs. Bee), a former teacher of Shell Lake, who passed away from cancer. Jadee Goetz and Alyssa Schultz created a blueprint and designed the little library. Staff raised money and Lamperts donated much of the materials. Matthew Denotter and Jack Skluzacek built it using the design the girls had created. Mrs. Butenhoff’s mother, Fran Ogren, made beautiful quilts to give to the four students for their hard work...a “Thank You” for keeping Mrs. Bee’s memory alive. Mrs. Butenhoff (will forever hold a special spot in the hearts of the Shell Lake Community.

The Little Library will be outside the Primary building. It will be filled with books in memory of Mrs. Bee. Members of the community are welcome to trade books to read. It is important to leave a book to share, and then you can take a new one to read. Enjoy the books!
