Sheriff Candidate Warren Tuttle Discusses Experience, Vision, Jail Debate on DrydenWire Live

WASHBURN COUNTY, WI — Republican candidate for Washburn County Sheriff Warren Tuttle joined Ben Dryden Thursday morning for a live “Meet The Candidate” conversation on DrydenWire Live.

The live-streamed discussion ran just over an hour and covered a wide range of topics, including Tuttle’s 20-year law enforcement career, his previous campaign for sheriff in 2022, leadership philosophy, and some of the key issues currently facing Washburn County.

During the conversation, Tuttle reflected on his unsuccessful 2022 campaign for sheriff and discussed lessons he said he learned from that experience as he prepares for the upcoming 2026 election cycle.

Tuttle also spoke extensively about his background in law enforcement, including his work prior to joining the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office and the various leadership and training roles he has held throughout his career.

A major portion of the discussion focused on Tuttle’s vision for the Sheriff’s Office if elected, including communication with the public, leadership within the department, supporting deputies, and maintaining visibility and accessibility within the community.

The conversation also touched on the ongoing discussion surrounding a possible new Washburn County jail project — one of the most talked-about topics in the county in recent years. Tuttle shared his perspective on the issue, emphasizing the importance of transparency, careful planning, community input, and fiscal responsibility when discussing any future jail-related decisions.

Tuttle announced his candidacy for Washburn County Sheriff in August 2025. He is seeking to become Washburn County’s next sheriff following current Sheriff Dennis Stuart announcing he would not seek a third term and would resign from office on June 12, 2026.

The primary election is scheduled for August 11, 2026, with the general election to follow on November 3, 2026.
