Sheriff Fitzgerald On Today’s 5-Year Anniversary Of Barron County Tornado

BARRON COUNTY -- The following is a press release from Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald regarding the 5-year anniversary of the tornado that went through Barron County.

Press Release

Five years ago, I stood at ground zero of the tornado and thought what do we do first.

Today on the anniversary, I was able to stand in that same spot with many of the same partners that helped over the years and cut the ribbon on the storm shelter. It was awesome, unbelievable and shows that this community can do anything.

Special thanks to Mosaic Technologies, Living Water Church, Red Cedar Church, Maranatha Church, Salvation Army, Prairie Lake Estates owners and residents and West Central Regional Planning.

A special shout out to Barron County Department of Human Services and Barron County Public Health for all the effort and work put in when it comes to disasters. Their planning and helping us build a team of volunteers to get the job done, was and still is extraordinary.

There are many more people to thank and no matter how you helped, we can never thank you enough. Always remember that it is the little things that make a big difference.
