BARRON COUNTY, Wis. -- According to Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald, initial estimates from the recent storm have 231 personal properties and 4 commercial properties damaged.
Damages Estimates (excluding tree damage - which is believed to be significant):
- $5 million in Personal Property
- $5 million in Commercial Property
Press Release -- While the official volunteer reception center is closing at the end of the day on Sunday we realize that there is still a need for assistance across the county. The Barron County Sheriff’s Department and Barron County Health & Human Services will still continue to be the lead agencies if our recovery efforts and we can be reached at:
- Sheriff Dept- 715-537-3106 or 911for any property or traffic safety concerns
- Health & Human Services will continue to monitor 211 to provide assistance to victims
- For specific needs-Economic Support, Trauma Services or others requests please call 715-537-5691
In addition, the Chetek Chamber of Commerce has been providing assistance to this disaster with volunteer resources to residents in need utilizing the Resort Owner’s Association information booth as a headquarters.
This team will continue these services during the week. Volunteers are needed for physical labor and supporting roles in clerical, meal preparation, delivery & traffic.

As this recovery continues we want to not only thank the hundreds of volunteers, businesses and organizations that assisted but the county staff that worked day and night on this disaster for the citizens of Barron County.
