SAWYER COUNTY -- A single-vehicle crash in Sawyer County has resulted in the death of a 30-year-old Hayward resident, according to a press release from the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office.

On June 22, 2020 at approximately 11:25pm, the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Communications Center received a report of a single vehicle crash with injuries on County Highway B in the Town of Winter. Sawyer County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene, assisted by the Sawyer County Ambulance EMT’s/Paramedics and the Winter Fire Department.
Initial Investigation indicates that a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Lars A. Schnell, age 30, of Hayward, was traveling east on County Highway B when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway, rolled over, coming to rest on the vehicles roof. Mr. Schnell, the lone occupant of the vehicle, sustained fatal injuries from the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office and the Sawyer County Coroner’s Office.
