Single-Vehicle Crash Results In Death Of Bloomer Man; Alcohol Suspected As Factor

CHIPPEWA COUNTY — Alcohol is ‘suspected as being a contributing factor’ in a single-vehicle crash in the town of Cleveland that resulted in the death of a 50-year-old Bloomer, WI man, according to a Press Release from the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office.


(Press Release) — On Wednesday August 28th, 2019 at about 11:23 a.m. the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported single vehicle crash in the 24000 block of CTH CC in the Town of Cleveland, Chippewa County.

Upon arrival deputies located a single vehicle on its roof in the west ditch of CTH CC north of 240TH avenue.  

A male, later identified as Paul D. Schwab of Bloomer, WI, was found deceased in the west ditch near the vehicle.

Based on the investigation, the single occupant and operator Paul Schwab was southbound on CTH CC north of 240TH avenue and entered the west ditch at a high rate of speed. The vehicle overturned coming to rest in the west ditch ejecting Schwab. The crash occurred between the evening hours of August 27th and early morning hours of August 28th, 2019.

Alcohol is suspected as being a contributing factor in the crash.
