Siren Man Arrested For Fifth OWI Following Traffic Stop

BURNETT COUNTY (DrydenWire) - Gary Lee Haaf, 68, of Siren, was arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Spooner Post on Thursday, September 12, 2024, for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, marking his fifth OWI offense, according to a Wisconsin State Patrol news release.

The WSP says that at approximately 6:53p, a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper initiated a traffic stop on Midtown Road near Siren due to equipment violations. During the stop, the trooper noticed signs of impairment from the driver, later identified as Haaf.

Following a series of standardized field sobriety tests, the trooper determined that Haaf was operating the vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant.

Haaf was arrested at the scene and transported to a local hospital where an evidentiary blood test was conducted. He was then taken to the Burnett County Jail.

Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
