Situation Report 2 for Expected Heavy Rainfall

BRIEFING

Following-up from the original SitRep published on September 19th, the National Weather Service is forecasting an increase in the amount of rain Barron County is expected to receive, now estimating between 3” to 4”+. Heavy rainfall is expecting to begin Wednesday afternoon and lasting through Thursday. Severe weather threat highest on Thursday with strong winds and possible hail.

FLOODING EXPECTATIONS

  • Minor small stream flooding
  • Standing water covering roadways and intersections
  • Road washouts in some places
  • Ditch line and water drainage system overflows
  • Flooded basements and lower levels

OTHER SEVERE WEATHER

  • A line of storms is expected to develop ahead of a cold front during the late afternoon, moving into western Wisconsin this evening.
  • Slight risk of hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes (2 out of 5) as shown on the map below.

COMMUNITY PREPAREDNESS

  • If you live in a flood-prone area, watch the water level of area lakes and streams
  • Do NOT drive over flooded roadways. Slow down while driving to avoid hydroplaning
