**UPDATE** Barron Electric is still working to get power back on.
BARRON COUNTY — A power outage in the Cumberland area affecting over 250 customers is being addressed and power is expected to be restored soon, according to a Situation Report (Sit Rep) from Emergency Services of Barron County.
(Sit Rep) -- At approximately 0200 hrs on January 30 2019, a Barron Electric experienced a power outage affecting 250+ customers in the Cumberland area. With the current temperature showing -30 below zero, community warming center were opened to ensure public safety.
For Maple Plain Reservation residents, a community warming center is now open at the Turtle Lake Casino Hotel at 777 Highway 8/63. Turtle Lake Casino buses are being used to relocate residents with transportation needs. Approximately 75 residents are being relocated and checked-in upon arrival at the warming center. During the relocation, Cumberland EMS was dispatched to a resident on home oxygen experiencing respiratory distress due to power loss. The patient was medically cleared, provided with portable oxygen, and then relocated to the warming center. Once power is restored, a re-entry plan will be initiated.
For Cumberland area residents, a community warming center is now open at the First Lutheran Church at 1180 Eighth Avenue in Cumberland. This shelter will remain open until power has been restored.
Barron Electric is estimating power restoral around 0730 hrs.
