Spooner Administrator Announces Resignation

Spooner Administrator Announces Resignation

Shannon Grindell, Spooner Area School District (SASD) Business Manager, has announced her resignation from the District. The School Board accepted her resignation Monday evening, February 20, 2017.

Ms. Grindell provided the following statement to DrydenWire.com:

I was hired by the Spooner Area School District as the District Business Manager in July, 2014. Though the past couple of years have brought many challenges, I am incredibly proud of all that has been accomplished by SASD staff and students. In a short amount of time, we were able to provide exciting opportunities and experiences to students and staff with a limited budget. There is certainly more to do considering the District's capital needs, but our work over the past couple years has put us on the right trajectory.

Ms. Grindell continued to say that she has accepted a new position outside of Spooner and is looking forward to the new opportunity, while also thankful for her time at SASD.

Spooner has incredible staff and students and through their shared passion for community, I know the future is bright for the district. I wish SASD District Leaders all the best.

Grindell will continue in her current capacity with the District through March 2017. She will also contribute in a transitional role through the end of the District's fiscal year.

John Burnett, Interim Superintendent for SASD, had positive things to say about Ms. Grindell in an email communication with DrydenWire.com.

Over the past few months while serving as the Interim Superintendent for the Spooner Area School District I have had the opportunity to work closely with Shannon in her role as the Business Manager for the school district. During that time I have come to admire her sense of professionalism and dedication to the students, staff, and parents of this district. Her insight and expertise have allowed her to provide the data needed for the fiscal management of the district.

Burnett also said that although it will not be easy to replace Ms. Grindell, he wishes her the best as she moves forward in her career.

It has been a pleasure getting to know her and I have enjoyed working with her as a fellow administrator.
