SASD to Host Informational A.L.I.C.E. Session for Community Members

News Release - In an effort to provide a safe and caring environment for our students, Spooner Area School District has updated its Safety and Crisis Response Plan to include the ALICE (Active Shooter Response Training) program. ALICE provides staff and students with appropriate response options in the event of a violent/armed intruder beyond the traditional lockdown.

ALICE is a dynamic (rather than sequential) acronym designed to provide options for each unique situation.

SASD has implemented ALICE training for all District staff. In addition, all District students have received training in a developmentally appropriate way. Our new safety plan calls for 2 ALICE drills per school year. Such drills will take place during the school day.

On February 28, we will be offering an informational session for parents and community members to present what ALICE is all about and how SASD has and will continue to implement it. Please plan to attend. The informational session will be held in the Spooner High School Auditorium at 5:30 pm.

Please contact your building principal or school counselor with any questions.

Parents and community members are encouraged to attend February 28, 2017 5:30 PM High School Auditorium.
