SPOONER, Wis. -- The Spooner City Council met tonight, July 5, 2017, to vote on what has become the hot topic in the community, the potential sale of the vacant building at 302 Walnut Street in Spooner, Wisconsin.
The item listed on the agenda: ’Approve Committee of the Whole Recommendation to Accept the Highest Offer on the Sale of 302 Walnut St,' was listed as an agenda item after the Property Planning and Development Committee on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, approved a bid by the owners of the Dock Coffee, Jeff & Sue Churchill, to turn the vacant building into a Brew Pub. The Committee also considered a bid from the representatives of the recently purchased old Civic Center across the street at 301 Walnut, as they are hoping to use part of the facility as a dorm for their hockey camps.
The Property Planning and Development Committee, along with other City Council members that attended the meeting on the 27th, voted 6-1 in favor of Churchill's bid.
Tonight, however, the City Council voted to move the issue back to the Property Planning and Development Committee to consider all options and to hear more from all of the interested parties in more depth before being presented to the City Council again.
