Spooner City Council Approves Recommendation to Reopen Bid Proposals for Vacant Building

Spooner City Council Approves Recommendation to Reopen Bid Proposals for Vacant Building

The Spooner City Council voted on Tuesday, August 1st, 2017, in favor of approving the agenda item: 'Property Committee Recommendation to reopen the process of proposals that include a bid and a plan for purchase of 302 Walnut St & 507 N Summit St. Council is establishing a value of $88,200 due to previous assessment and purchase.'

Spooner City Administrator William Marx told DrydenWire.com this morning that the deadline for the bids is by the close of business on August 11, 2017. Those wishing to place a bid may do so by dropping it off at the Spooner City Hall.

The $88,200 is not the required minimum bid, Marx said, rather, it was asked by a council member what the value of the two buildings were; the City paid $40,000 for 507 N Summit St, and 302 Walnut St. was assessed at $48,200 bringing the total to $88,200, according to Marx.

Anyone can place a bid for either 302 Walnut St. or 507 Summit St, or both.

Marx said that there will be a "Special Council Meeting" that will be held on August 14th at 6 PM at City Hall to open and discuss any/all bids submitted. Part of the meeting will be in open session, but a closed session is anticipated for the Council to discuss the submitted bids.

Marx would not commit to saying that a final decision will be made that night, but hopes that there will be.  Marx also said that City Council Members are aware to keep their schedules open for the 15th of August as well, in case they need to meet again the following day to discuss further.
