Spooner Health Expands COVID-19 Testing; Now A Testing Site For Essentia Health

Press Release

SPOONER, WI -- Starting Monday, April 6, Spooner Health will expand testing for COVID-19 through a partnership with Essentia Health. Currently, Spooner Health is testing emergency department and admitted patients who meet testing criteria as set by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. With this new expansion, additional outpatients may qualify for curbside testing at Spooner Health as well. You do not need to be a patient of Essentia Health to get screened for COVID-19.

If you have a fever of more than 100° F, new or ongoing cough and shortness of breath, please use the free screening tools below:

A triage nurse will determine your next steps upon completion of screening.

“We are very excited to partner with Essentia for expanded COVID-19 testing in our area. Being the first Essentia Health testing site in our region really benefits everyone in the community who are trying to fight the spread of this disease together,” says Mike Schafer, CEO of Spooner Health. “Our employees are here to still deliver high quality patient care and with the rapid spread of this disease, it is imperative that we partner with area facilities to expand testing capabilities.”

It is still recommended that the public practices social distancing and good hand hygiene as well as monitor themselves for symptoms of COVID-19. Do not show up to a clinic or a hospital without calling first.
