SPOONER, WI – Spooner Health is now seeking a Full-Time Phlebotomist / Laboratory Aide.
Summary:
Spooner Health is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Phlebotomist / Laboratory Aide to join our patient-centered laboratory team. This important role supports patient care through specimen collection, processing, and clerical functions, while creating a positive first impression of the hospital. The Phlebotomist promotes comfort, safety, and efficiency, ensuring high-quality specimens and excellent patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary collections while minimizing patient discomfort and ensuring specimen quality
- Verify patient identity and provider orders using AIDET; accurately collect and process specimens
- Greet and prepare patients; provide empathetic, professional communication
- Enter and manage orders in Epic; distribute lab data confidentially via appropriate channels
- Maintain lab equipment, supplies, and cleanliness; order and stock supplies
- Follow PPE and biohazard safety protocols; maintain a safe environment
- Support team operations, documentation, training, and performance improvement activities
- Perform legal collections in compliance with chain-of-custody requirements
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Manual dexterity and precise coordination
- Light to moderate lifting with frequent bending
- Strong communication, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
Work Environment:
- Clinical setting with patient interaction, including bedside care
- Routine exposure to biohazards; adherence to universal precautions required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; phlebotomy or medical assistant training preferred
- Basic computer skills;Epic experience preferred
- No prior experience required; certification optional
