Spooner High School Plans Benefit for Family of Fallen Deputy Dan Glaze

The Spooner High School student council will be hosting a Soup Supper Benefit on January 20th, 2017 to raise funds for the family of Dan Glaze, the Rusk County Sheriff's Deputy who was killed in the line of duty on October 29th, 2016.

The Soup Supper Benefit will be held at the Spooner High School from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. just prior to the scheduled high school basketball game between Spooner and Hayward.

Tickets will be available in the SASD office starting on Monday, January 9th.

All proceeds from the dinner, concessions, and admissions that evening will go to support the family of Dan Glaze.

On October 29th, 2016, Rusk County Deputy Dan Glaze responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle south of Ladysmith, WI. Deputy Glaze radioed dispatch that he had located the vehicle. Dispatch lost contact with Deputy Glaze and backup deputies were sent to assist him. When they arrived on scene the backup deputies found Deputy Glaze deceased from a gunshot wound.

A suspect was arrested and law enforcement authorities continue the investigation.

Deputy Glaze, 33 yrs old, grew up in Birchwood, WI. He is survived by many loving family and friends. Deputy Glaze served the communities of Fall Creek, Sawyer County, and Hayward before joining the Rusk County Sheriff's Department.
