Spooner Man Sentenced on Drug Charges

SHELL LAKE, Wis. -- A Spooner, WI man has been sentenced on felony drug-related charges.

Public record shows that Jacob Bethel was sentenced in Washburn County Circuit Court on Jun 12, 2017, regarding felony drug charges filed against him.

DrydenWire.com reported in February 2017 that Jacob Bethel had been charged with Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place, a Class I Felony, as well as Manufacturing and/or Delivering Marijuana, a Class E Felony; as well as Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Misdemeanor.

On June 12, 2017, the court sentenced Bethel to 3 years probation with 9 months of conditional jail time on a conviction for Manufacturing or Delivering Marijuana. Bethel plead no contest to this charge on Apri 20, 2017. The charge of Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place was dismissed but read in by the Court for consideration in sentencing.

Additionally, the court sentenced Bethel to 30 days jail time on a conviction for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, a charge to which he also plead no contest on April 20, 2017.

The complaint filed against Bethel alleged that officers located nearly 28 pounds of marijuana inside the residence as well as marijuana plants and seeds and many items of drug paraphernalia including pipes and a scale.

Another individual was living at the residence in question, Hannah Bethel. Public record shows that her charges of Possession of Marijuana as a Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Misdemeanor were dismissed on May 1, 2017, as she had completed the Washburn County Marijuana Awareness Program.

Spooner Man Charged With Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place

Jacob Bethel, of Spooner, WI, has been charged in Washburn County Circuit Court with Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place, a Class I Felony; along with Manufacturing and/or Delivering Marijuana, a Class E Felony; as well as Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Misdemeanor, according to public records. If convicted of these charges, Bethel could face a total of 18 years in state prison.

Spooner Police officers obtained and executed a search warrant for Bethel's residence on November 14, 2016, following an investigation by the department into Bethel and his alleged activities.

The warrant was executed with the assistance of the Washburn County Sheriff's Office as well as the DNR.

According to the criminal complaint received by DrydenWire.com via public records request, officers located a total of nearly 28 pounds of marijuana inside the residence as well as marijuana plants and seeds and many items of drug paraphernalia including pipes and a scale. Officers also seized over $2,000 cash as evidence.

Hannah Bethel was also living at this Spooner residence and according to public record has been charged in Washburn County Circuit Court with Possession of Marijuana as a Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Misdemeanor.

Records also show that Jacob Bethel appeared earlier this year in Washburn County Circuit Court on his charges and the Court found probable cause to proceed with the case in criminal court. He is scheduled to appear again on March 13, 2017. Hannah Bethel also has appeared in Washburn County Circuit Court on her charges, her next court date is set for May 1, 2017.
