Spooner Volunteer Firefighter Dies of a Heart Attack Hours After Responding to a Residential Gas Leak

A Spooner volunteer firefighter has died following a response, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.  

The U.S. Fire Administration on Thursday announced the line-of-duty death of 69-year-old Spooner volunteer firefighter Philip H. Neubich, who was a 38-year veteran of the fire service.

On April 24, 2018, at 2319hrs, Firefighter Philip H. Neubich responded to the fire station when his fire department was paged out for a gas leak inside of a residence. Several hours later, at approximately 0615hrs, at home, Firefighter Neubich was found unresponsive by his wife. Local EMS responded, but Firefighter Neubich was found to be deceased. The nature of the fatal injury is reported to have been a heart attack.
