Spooner Woman Pleads Guilty to Maintaining Drug Trafficking Place

SHELL LAKE -- A Spooner, WI woman has entered a plea of guilty to her charges of maintaining a drug trafficking place in Washburn County.

Online circuit court records indicate that Diana Hobbs, of Spooner, WI, appeared in Washburn County Circuit Court on September 28, 2017, and entered a plea of guilty to her charges of Class I Felony Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Two additional charges of Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Class I Felony Possession of Narcotic Drugs that were filed against Hobbs have been dismissed but read in by the Court for consideration in Hobb's sentence.

The charges were filed against Hobbs following a search warrant at her residence on Carlton Road in February 2017. During the execution of the search warrant, law enforcement found dozens of items of drug paraphernalia including scales, bongs, pipes, glass vials, and hypodermic needles as well as equipment which appeared to be for the purpose of creating drug paraphernalia and other equipment which was suspected to be for making hash oil. Officers also found marijuana, prescription pills, methamphetamine and heroin.

Hobbs is scheduled to be sentenced on her convictions in Washburn County Circuit Court in December 2017.

SHELL LAKE -- Charges of maintaining a drug trafficking place are filed in Washburn County Circuit Court against a woman living in the Spooner, WI area.

Diana Hobbs is facing charges in Washburn County Circuit Court of Class I Felony Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place, Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Class I Felony Possession of Heroin, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

According to the criminal complaint filed against Hobbs, she was the property owner at a Carlton Road, Spooner, WI address at which Washburn County law enforcement executed a search warrant in February of 2017.

Several individuals were located at the residence during the search warrant, along with dozens of items of drug paraphernalia including scales, bongs, pipes, glass vials, and hypodermic needles, and equipment which was suspected to be for manufacturing pipes for smoking controlled substances.

DrydenWire.com reported earlier this year that two men, Jeremy Englund and Eric Hamer, were arrestedcharged and then later sentenced on charges which stemmed from this same search warrant.

Also located during the search warrant was suspected: methamphetamine; marijuana; brown liquid stored in multiple containers, and multiple prescription pills including Adderall and Hydrocodone. Officers also found multiple rounds of ammunition and a Police Badge marked Shell Lake Police Department, #846.

The criminal complaint states that an investigation into this residence began as early as June 2016 when tips were received by the Spooner Police Department that someone at a trailer house near Tracks restaurant was selling marijuana. Confidential informants provided information to the Spooner Police Department regarding names of those who were reportedly selling drugs at the residence, including Jeremy Englund.

The criminal complaint states that Hobbs reportedly told officers during the search warrant that she smokes marijuana and knew that others were smoking it at the residence also. She also reportedly stated that she knew that Englund was making glass marijuana pipes at the residence.

Items listed in the criminal complaint as being found in Hobb's bedroom include several suspected methamphetamine pipes and loaded hypodermic needles as well as a suspected hash oil operation.

Hobbs was scheduled to plead to her charges in July 2017, however, a motion was made at that time for a new defense attorney. The Court granted that motion. Hobbs is scheduled to appear again on her charges later in September.

Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
