Stafsholt’s ‘Eisenhower Bridge Of Valor’ Bill Signed Into Law

Madison, WI – Senator Rob Stafsholt (R – New Richmond) released the following statement after his Eisenhower Bridge of Valor bill, authored along with Representative Warren Petryk (R – Town of Washington), which will rename a section of USH 63 across the Mississippi River in Pierce County, was signed into law by Governor Tony Evers.

“This is a bill that I was happy to introduce along with Representative Petryk to memorialize those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedom. We will continue to properly honor President Eisenhower, but also extend that honor to all our heroes in the armed forces, law enforcement, and emergency services. For all of their sacrifices to keep us safe, it’s the least we can do for our service members and first responders.”

The bridge was originally named the 'Eisenhower Memorial Bridge’, in honor of President Eisenhower, who played a significant role in World War II. This legislation renames it to the ‘Eisenhower Bridge of Valor,” to properly honor not only President Eisenhower, but also honor all of our heroes in the armed forces, law enforcement, and emergency services. In addition, this will simplify the bridge’s name by aligning the Wisconsin side of the bridge with Minnesota, which made the same name change in 2019.
