On Friday, June 30th the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 2 vehicle fatal (1 death) crash at the intersection of CTH MM and 300th street. Preliminary information shows that 16-year-old Nathan A. Briggs was N/B on 300th street with passenger Hunter K. Kann, 16 years old, from the Cadott area. The second vehicle was E/B on CTH MM approaching the intersection. It was driven by Terrany J Flick, 7/3/83 out of Fairchild, with passenger Stanton MP Bedell, 8/13/74 out of Stanley, WI. Nathan failed to stop at the stop sign and T boned Flick’s vehicle at unknown speed. Flick’s vehicle went into the NE section of the intersection and appeared to have rolled multiple times coming to rest in the field. Passenger of Flick’s vehicle Stanton Bedell deceased at the scene. Unknown if alcohol or drugs is associated with either driver at this time. At this point in the investigation it does not appear Ms. Flick or Mr. Bedell were wearing their seatbelts. Flick was transported to Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire.
Nathan and Hunter had minor injuries and I believe both were transported to get checked out, Nathan to Sacred Heart and Hunter to Sacred Heart.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting the Sheriff’s Department in conducting the reconstruction.
