WASHBURN COUNTY -- The Wisconsin State Patrol arrested a Rice Lake man in Washburn County for OWI, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol Spooner Post.

Christopher Michael Karpowicz, 41, from Rice Lake, WI, has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol (WSP) Spooner Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 5th offense.

According to a news release from WSP, a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped to check on a disabled motorist on County Road D. A subsequent investigation was conducted on the driver of the vehicle.

The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (drugged driving) 5th offense, operating a motor vehicle after revocation, and on a Barron County Warrant.

The driver was transported to a local hospital for an evidentiary test of his blood and then to the Washburn County Jail.

"Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty."
