UPDATE: Suspect In Custody Following High-Speed Chase

BARRON/POLK COUNTY -- One person is in custody and authorities are searching for another following a high-speed chase that occurred shortly after midnight Sunday morning that started in Polk County and ended in Barron County, according to a press release from the Cumberland Police Department.

On 8/6/2022 around 12:08 am, Polk County notified Barron County of a vehicle pursuit traveling into Barron County on US 63. A Turtle Lake Officer attempted to use a tire deflation device to flatten the tires but the operator of the vehicle was able to swerve around the tire deflation device.

A Clear Lake officer then stated the pursuit continued north of US 63 with speeds over 100mph toward the City of Cumberland. Cumberland Officers were able to set up a tire deflation device on US 63 near US 48. Cumberland Officers were successful in deflating all 4 tires on the suspect vehicle.

The vehicle came to a stop in the City of Cumberland.

The male driver fled on foot. A female passenger was detained. Cumberland and Turtle Lake officers along with Deputies from the Barron County Sheriffs Department attempted to locate the male suspect who fled on foot.

Cumberland Police Department and Clear Lake Police Department searched the vehicle. 10 ounces of Methamphetamine along with other drug paraphernalia was located in the vehicle.

The vehicle was towed and the female passenger was arrested for Possession with intent to deliver (Party to a crime) and an outstanding felony warrant out of Minnesota. The male suspect was never located but Officers do have a potential suspect.

Clear Lake Police Department seized the Methamphetamine and will ultimately request charges against the suspect once he is located.

Thank you to Turtle Lake Police Department and the Barron County Sheriff’s Office! This was a situation that could have ended very poorly but thankfully everyone was able to go home safe!

UPDATE 2: The Cumberland Police Department says that Stephan Henderson Desrosiers has been located, and taken in to custody.
