Suspect Identified In Barron Homicide, Victims Recovering

BARRON COUNTY — The suspect in the October 1st Candy Lane homicide has been identified, and the victims’ conditions have been updated, according to a press release from the Barron County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect has been identified as Marcus Hinojosa 17 y/o, of Almena WI. Hinojosa died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The condition of the juvenile female victim is hospitalized and stable at this time per family.

According to law enforcement’s investigation Hinojosa and the juvenile female victim 17y/o, were in a relationship together and the female was pregnant. Hinojosa was inside at the apartment. At approximately 2PM the family involved in this incident arrived at the apartment. The juvenile female victim entered the apartment and was shot by Hinojosa.

The male victim along with the neighbor went to check the safety of the juvenile female victim and the male victim was shot through the entry door and pronounced dead at the scene. 911 was called and law enforcement arrived at the apartment within minutes.

Upon approaching the apartment, the Barron County Sheriff’s Deputy heard a single gunshot come from the apartment. The Barron Police Department along with The Barron County Sheriff’s Department cleared and secured the apartment. First aid was provided to all injured individuals.

The juvenile female’s child was delivered due to mother’s injuries and is doing well at the hospital per family.

There is a Go Fund Me page created by the family and Sterling Bank is taking monetary donations for the family.

Law Enforcement is still working with Snap Chat to remove the video taken by Hinojosa.

Per the Barron County District Attorney’s Office we are unable to list the names of the victims.
