Suspect In Custody For Allegedly Being Responsible For Over 25 Burglaries In Area

RUSK COUNTY -- One person is in custody for allegedly being responsible for over 25 burglaries in Barron, Rusk, and Sawyer Counties, according to a press release from the Rusk County Sheriff’s office.

During the months of April and May 2021, the Rusk County Sheriff’s office responded to multiple burglary complaints in the Northwest (Blue Hills) area of the County. Some of the burglary complaints were reported by the property owners but most were located by Patrol Deputies conducting property checks in the wooded/remote area which they periodically do.

Most of the sheds/cabins that were burglarized were entered by force. No owners were present during the burglaries.

On May 21, 2021, Kevin Johnson 46yrs old from Barron and Rusk Counties was arrested on Fire Lane Rd in the Blue Hills of Rusk County. Rusk County Deputies and Investigators have dedicated countless hours conducting proactive patrols in specific areas, gathering and analyzing evidence, locating stolen property, and conducting interviews. Based on evidence and interviews, it is believed Johnson is responsible for over 25 burglaries in Barron, Rusk, and Sawyer Counties.

Johnson is currently incarcerated in the Rusk County Jail.
