On Thursday May 31, 2018 at 9:57am a Barron County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted a suspect vehicle near the Dollar General in Rice Lake that was wanted for the high speed chase with 2 suspects from a shooting in Dunn Co. A female exited the vehicle and entered the store and the male stayed in the car.
A perimeter was being set up when the male took off in the car and a chase ensued on Sawyer St in Rice Lake out into the county. The chase went about 1.5 miles out of the city when the driver turned around and came back into the city. The vehicle came to a stop back in the Dollar General parking lot where the male was taken into custody. The female had exited the store also and was taken into custody.
The male was identified as Shawn Goplen from Red Wing, MN and the female was identified as Kari Blank from Ellsworth, WI. Both were wanted by Dunn County.
Both subjects were transported to the Dunn County Jail. The Barron County Emergency Response Team was activated and responded to assist along with the Rice Lake and Cameron Police Departments.

Dunn County Authorities have identified the man shot this past weekend and have also stated that one of the vehicles in which they were searching has been found near Boyceville.
Updated Case Information
(Press Release) -- On Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 10:42 PM the Dunn County E-911 Center received a report of an adult male that had sustained a gunshot wound. The incident occurred in the 5900 block of Cty Rd D in Tainter Township.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Mayo-Eau Claire. The victim sustained one gunshot wound and was conscious during transport.
The victim that sustained a gunshot wound to his leg was identified as Bruce R. Sundstrom, age 48 of rural Colfax. The victim is expected to recover from the injury sustained.
The victim and the suspects in this incident are acquaintances.
The maroon Jeep that was one of the vehicles reported to have left the scene after the shooting was recovered near Boyceville, WI this morning. This vehicle had been stolen from Hudson, WI.
The suspects, Goplen and Blank, have not yet been taken into custody.

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office is seeking 2 suspects in connection to an attempted homicde.
A press release from the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office states that they are seeking the following 2 suspects: Shawn Harris Goplen, of Red Wing, MN and Kari Lynn Blank, of Ellsworth, WI.
The Dunn County E-911 Center received a report on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 10:42p that an adult male had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported for medical care. Current status for the victim is not known.

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office has obtained arrest warrants for the following two suspects:
Shawn Harris Goplen, Male/white, age 34, 5’11”, 300 lbs, brown hair, hazel eyes, of Red Wing, MN
Wanted for:
- Attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide
- Minnesota Dept. of Corrections warrant
Kari Lynn Blank, Female/white, age 36, 5’5”, 190 lbs, brown hair, blue eyes, of Ellsworth, WI
Wanted for:
- Party to Attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide
- Wisconsin Dept of Corrections warrant
Goplen and Blank should be considered armed and dangerous. If anyone sees either individual, they should call 911 or their local Law Enforcement Agency. Do not approach either individual. Description of suspect vehicles:
Goplen and Blank were believed to have left the scene in the following vehicles.
Silver Honda or Mitsubishi, four door, automobile, mid 2000 model. Maroon, Jeep Cherokee, approx. model year was said to be 2000.
No further vehicle information was obtained and there were no license plate numbers identified for these vehicles.
Dunn County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene along with Colfax ambulance and Menomonie Fire/EMS.
The Menomonie Police Dept and Wisconsin State Patrol also assisted on scene.
