RUSK COUNTY — A routine traffic stop in Rusk County led to the seizure of a significant quantity of drugs, cash, and a fake firearm early Friday morning, according to the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 1:00a. on March 7, Rusk County Patrol Deputy Patrick Heater initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle near Conrath. Deputy Heater requested assistance from a K9 unit.
K9 Deputy Baier and his K9 partner, Leo, responded to the scene. During a search, Leo alerted to the vehicle and later located illegal items during an article search outside the vehicle. Authorities seized a large amount of marijuana and methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia, a fake firearm, and a significant amount of cash.
The driver, identified as Patrick Buswell, 50, of Holcombe, WI, was taken into custody. Buswell faces multiple charges, including:
- Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
- Possession of THC with intent to distribute
- Disorderly conduct
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Felony bail jumping
- Misdemeanor bail jumping
- Resisting or obstructing an officer
- Operating a motor vehicle with a restricted controlled substance (6th offense)
Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
