Teenager Airlifted After Authorities Respond To Possible Drowning In Cumberland

BARRON COUNTY -- A 15-year-old male was flown to Regions hospital after being pulled out of the water by a local resident after witnessing the individual go under the water without returning to the surface, according to a press release from the Cumberland Police Department.


(Press Release) -- On 5/25/2019 at approximately 14:38, Barron County Sheriffs Dispatch received a 911 call advising of a possible drowning at the Cumberland beach. Cumberland Police Dept. along with the Cumberland Ambulance and Cumberland Fire Dept. The Barron County Sheriff’s Dept. and the Wisconsin DNR responded.

A boat monitor working at the boat landing had witnessed the subject swimming and saw the individual go down and not return to the surface, he immediately called 911.

An individual who lived in the area swam out to where the subject was last seen and was able to recover him and bring him to shore.

The subject, a 15-year-old male, was transported to Cumberland hospital and then flown to Regions hospital.

His identity is not being released at this time.
