POLK COUNTY, WI -- The Polk County Suicide Awareness 5K Run/Walk returns Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Pine Park in Balsam Lake. The free community event begins at 8:30 a.m.
Founded in 2016 by Tristan and Scott Divine and hosted by the Mental Health Task Force of Polk County, the Walk brings community members together to raise awareness, spread hope, and support suicide prevention in Polk County.
Over the years, the Walk has brought together thousands of community members and raised tens of thousands of dollars for suicide prevention programs right here in Polk County. Its purpose is to raise awareness, spread hope, and bring people together to support much-needed suicide prevention programs in our local communities.
This year’s keynote speaker is Dawn M. Rogers, an author, emcee, speaker, and advocate who shares a message of hope, healing, and resilience through the power of personal story.
Following the loss of her daughter, Olivia, to suicide in 2016, Rogers has spent the past decade navigating grief and healing while helping others find strength and purpose through life’s most difficult seasons. Her message reminds audiences that hope is possible, healing can happen, and no one has to walk the journey alone.
The Polk County Suicide Awareness Walk is free to attend and open to everyone. Those who choose to donate or sponsor the event may designate 100% of their gift to either a Polk County school district or the Mental Health Task Force of Polk County’s suicide prevention work. Donations designated to school districts support youth mental health and suicide prevention efforts within those districts.
In addition to the 5K Run/Walk and keynote presentation, the event will feature a dove release memorial, live music in the park with Tatum Kline, food vendors, activities, and a community mental health resource fair.
