The Treat Depot in Spooner is Pulling Out all the Stops for Their Grand Opening

SPOONER, Wis. -- Even though the Treat Depot has been open since June of last year, they will be celebrating their Grand Opening on Saturday, August 19, and they're pulling out all the stops to do it.

According to manager Lonnie Shilts, there will character drawings, temporary tattoos, food and soft serve specials, photos with the Spooner Police, an ice cream eating contest for kids, face paintings and special 'Drift' flavor specials. Drifts being the Treat Depots signature flavored soft serve mixture of sweet enjoyment.

The Treat Depot's new manager comes from a long line of food service and is proud to serve their Friday Night Fish Fry sporting three pieces of hand battered haddock, fries and a drink for $8.97. The Friday special is served from open to close, 11 am until 10 pm.

The Treat burgers are always made from fresh, never frozen, Angus chuck beef. Your burger is made to order, but the wait is worth it. It comes unadorned, but you can ask for mustard, ketchup, mayo, fried or fresh onions, lettuce, tomato, and bacon.

The chicken tenders are the most popular item on their menu and that's because they're really tenders, not a processed stuck-together white meat product.

Their buns come fresh from the Spooner Bake Shoppe and they serve their 1919 Root Beer right from the barrel. The root beer can be purchased by ordering a root beer float, or by the glass, the gallon and the half-gallon for those wanting some to go.

When you order an ice cream cake the day before, small, medium or large, you can customize it to your liking. There are four layers to each cake, one being the crunchy one, and the rest is up to your imagination. One of the frozen cakes that are getting more and more popular is the Hawaiian one made with coconut, bananas, and pineapple. The cakes run from $10 to $30.00.

If you remember the old Dairy Queen that sat in the exact spot for years, you'll be happy to know this new 'Fast Casual' place takes up the same footprint even to the drive up behind the building and the large window at the building's front is exactly where the order windows were once and the drive through service is located in the back.

The railroad is the theme of the place and there's a huge photo mural on one wall featuring the Chicago and Northwestern's many depots from Kenosha to Duluth and all points between when traveling by train was common.

You can buy soft serve by the pint or quart and you can book a birthday party for your child with a special Party Menu. Gift certificates are always available.

When you stop in, allow some time for decision making because there are 50 different addition flavors for the Drift and the sundaes, shakes, and malts. All their fruit is fresh or fresh frozen and they've increased their dip cone flavors from just chocolate to cherry, birthday cake, and butterscotch.

The Treat Depot invites you to stop in seven days a week from 11 am until 10 pm and sample their Fast Casual menu, and don't forget their Grand Opening, Saturday, August 19, during their regular hours.
