Traffic Stop in Cumberland Leads to Meth Arrest After K9 Alert

BARRON COUNTY — On March 27, 2026, officers with the Cumberland Police Department conducted a traffic stop within the City of Cumberland for speeding and equipment violations.

During the stop, Officer Brunner deployed his K9 partner, K9 Kilo, who positively alerted to the presence of narcotics within the vehicle.

Based on the alert, officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and located a significant quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

The operator of the vehicle, identified as Christopher Wright of Springbrook, Wisconsin, was taken into custody for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. He was subsequently transported to the Barron County Jail.

Christopher Wright is currently awaiting formal charges from the Barron County District Attorney’s Office.
