POLK COUNTY — A routine traffic stop in the Village of Turtle Lake, WI, has led to multiple criminal charges for a Downing, WI, man after authorities suspected he was operating a vehicle while under the influence, with two children under the age of 3 in the back seat.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Polk County Circuit Court, the stop quickly escalated when an officer observed signs of impairment from the driver, Harley Goetsch (30), and detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, prompting a search that uncovered suspected THC products and paraphernalia.
DrydenWire previously reported that Goetsch was facing charges in Washburn County Circuit Court for allegations of child sexual assault. A 3-day Jury Trial is scheduled to begin in June 2026 on those charges.
Goetsch is scheduled to appear again in Polk County Circuit Court in May 2026 on his new charges.
