Criminal charges have been filed in Burnett County Circuit Court against Linda Blair, of Spooner, WI, following a traffic stop near Hertel Express on August 15, 2017, just before 2:00 AM. According to the criminal complaint filed against Blair, Alan Olson, also of Spooner, WI was driving the vehicle at the time and online circuit court records indicate that he has also received criminal charges stemming from the stop.
The criminal complaint states that a St. Croix Tribal Police Officer stopped the vehicle after running a routine check on the license plate which showed that the registered owner had no valid driver's license. After identifying both Blair and Olson, the officer learned that neither of them had valid driver's licenses. The officer then told Olson that he would be receiving a citation for operating after revocation and that the vehicle would be towed.
A K-9 sniff around the vehicle was then performed prior to having it towed. After the K-9 alerted to the possible presence of controlled substances in the vehicle, officers found the following items inside the vehicle:
- a clear gem baggie between the driver's seat and center console which contained green leafy material
- a clear glass pipe with white powder in an eyeglass case under the front passenger seat
- a small metal pipe with burnt black residue inside it
- a small amount of green leafy material inside a purse (which Blair reportedly said belonged to her)
Officers conducted tests on the substances and received positive results for methamphetamine and marijuana according to the criminal complaint.
Blair is facing charges of Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possession of THC (Marijuana), and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Online circuit court records show that she appeared in Burnett County Circuit Court for a bail bond hearing on August 15, 2017, and was placed on a signature bond. Blair appeared again on September 13, 2017, with her defense attorney and requested a preliminary hearing on her felony charges.
Two criminal complaints have been filed against Olson, with offense dates listed as August 15, 2017, the date of the traffic stop. Olson is charged with Misdemeanor Operating While Revoked, and Misdemeanor Possession of THC (Marijuana). Olson appeared in Burnett County Circuit Court on September 13, 2017, regarding his charges and entered a Not Guilty plea to both charges.
Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
