UPDATE: Joshua Wallace appeared in Washburn County Circuit Court on July 31, 2017, for a preliminary examination hearing. The Court heard testimony from a Spooner Police Officer and did find probable cause for this case to continue in criminal court. According to public record, Wallace filed a request for a new judge and no new court date is listed at this time.
Traffic Stop Results in Seizure of Meth from Spooner Man

A traffic stop conducted by a Spooner Police Officer resulted in the location and seizure of methamphetamine and the arrest of one man, according to the criminal complaint.
On June 7, 2017, Joshua Wallace, of Spooner, WI, was stopped by Spooner Police Department for driving in the City of Spooner with a revoked driver's license. The criminal complaint filed in Washburn County Circuit Court against Wallace states that when the officer made contact with Wallace, he was allegedly behaving in a nervous manner and sweating profusely with dry, white lips and constricted pupils.
When questioned by the officer about drug use, Wallace reportedly told the officer that he had just been released from prison about 1 month prior to the traffic stop and that he had used methamphetamine about 2 weeks prior to the traffic stop.
The Washburn County K9 Unit was called to the scene to perform a sniff of the vehicle that Wallace had been driving. The K9 gave a positive alert on the vehicle, indicating that controlled substances were inside it. Two baggies containing a white substance which tested positive for methamphetamine were found inside the vehicle.
A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper assisted Spooner Police at the scene of the traffic stop by conducting field sobriety testing. After the testing, Wallace was then transported to the Shell Lake Emergency Room where he consented to a blood draw for testing of his blood.
Wallace has been charged with Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor 3rd Offense Operate While Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance or Any Other Drug, Misdemeanor 3rd Offense Operate with Restricted Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor failure to Install Ignition Interlock Device, Misdemeanor Operate a Motor Vehicle While Revoked and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
According to the criminal complaint, Wallace was previously convicted of operating while intoxicated on September 15, 2012, in Rice Lake Municipal Court and on June 11, 2015, in Barron County Circuit Court.
Public record indicates that Wallace appeared on June 7 in Washburn County Circuit Court for a bail bond hearing at which time the Court placed him on a $2,500 signature bond. Wallace made an initial appearance on his criminal charges on July 24, 2017, and is set to appear again on July 31 for a preliminary examination.
According to the Washburn County Sheriff's Office, as of 9:00 A.M., today, July 27, 2017, Wallace was still in custody in the County jail.
