RUSK COUNTY - A fatal motor vehicle crash occurred in Rusk County on June 12th, 2023, involving a rear-end collision between a pickup truck and a road grader, according to a press release from the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, June 12th, 2023 just before 9a, the Rusk County Sheriff's Office Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle crash with injuries on State Hwy 40 a X mile north of Hwy 8. Information was a vehicle had struck a road grader.
Upon arrival, emergency workers found a full-size Chevrolet pick-up truck had rear-ended a Rusk County Highway Department grader. The driver of the truck was extricated from the vehicle and was airlifted to an Eau Claire hospital. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The grader operator was uninjured.
Wisconsin State Patrol is handling the investigation.
